If you don't want to show the weekends on your calendar, you should hide them by changing your Calendar View. Each Calendar View will arrange your Calendar data into a different layout and specify how much of your Calendar data you can see at once. You can change your Calendar View by clicking on the view buttons in the upper left-hand corner of your calendar. See the image below:

There are two views in which you have options to hide weekends: Week and Month. The "Month" view only has one option for not seeing weekends, but the "Week" view has 4 options (1 week (column), 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks). See the image below:
